Welcome to Tulipwood
Thanks for subscribing!
Tulipwood is a newsletter of comics for the heart and spirit. It is a simple beast, meant to carry us away and help us face the day.
I named after the street I grew up on in Commack, New York, and most of my comics are based on people I know and things that have really happened to me.
Reality is springboard of my imagination; I try to bend the facts to tell the truths of the heart.
I hope Tulipwood will find a place in your own heart.
Who Am I?
I’m Chris Buczinsky, a cartoonist living in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
I’ve always wanted to be a tough guy, preferably a fighter pilot, but every time I’ve tried, I’ve always wound up getting hurt. It was unpleasant.
So I choose to fight my battles in the comfort of my studio—as close as possible to the refrigerator. The battles I need to fight are mostly with myself anyway.
My favorites are Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, Zits, and BC, and my favorite graphic novels are Persepolis, Fun Home, and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.
I like riding my bicycle, playing pinball, hiking in the desert, watching horror movies, and eating coconut cake.
I love blueberries, bluejays, blue skies, and blue jeans
I adore drawing comics.
